Allmendinger captures Champ-car victory

American A.J. Allmendinger won his fourth race of the season, boosting his title chances by taking the Champ-car Grand Prix of Denver. Allmendinger completed 97 laps around the temporary street court in 1hr, 44mins, 59.557secs to defeat Brazil's Bruno Junqueira by 20.587secs with English rookie Dan Clarke third. Two-time defending champion Sebastien Bourdais finished seventh, seeing his overall points lead trimmed with four races remaining in the 14-event season. Britain's Justin Wilson, who had been second in the season chase, finished eighth to lose more ground on the Frenchman. The next race will be in two weeks at Montreal.
